St. Michael’s is creating a new way for neighbors to connect — one wagging tail at a time. Beginning this season, the church yard will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4 PM to 6 PM, weather permitting, as a welcoming gathering space for dogs to play and for people throughout the community to socialize and build friendships.
The new initiative reflects St. Michael’s ongoing commitment to hospitality, diversity, and inclusion. Everyone is invited — longtime parishioners, new neighbors, families, seniors, pet lovers, and anyone looking for connection and community.
“At St. Mike’s, we believe community happens when people feel welcomed exactly as they are,” said church leaders. “This is about more than dogs playing in the yard. It’s about creating a joyful, safe, and inclusive space where relationships can grow and everyone belongs.”
The church hopes the gatherings will encourage conversation, reduce isolation, and strengthen neighborhood connections in a relaxed and friendly environment. Whether bringing a dog or simply stopping by to meet neighbors, visitors are encouraged to come as they are.
The events are free and open to all members of the community.
